Volunteer & Coach With Us

Damocles Fencing Club is run by people who love the sport. We are currently looking for volunteers and paid coaches to help our club grow and keep fencing accessible to everyone in Fredericton and the surrounding area.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Give a Little Time, Make a Big Difference

No fencing experience is required for most volunteer roles. Whether you can help once a season or every week, there is a place for you at Damocles.

  • Class helpers assist coaches with warm ups, equipment and supervising new fencers.
  • Tournament and event support includes the registration desk, timing and scoring, set up and take down.
  • Armoury and equipment volunteers help maintain, test and repair club gear.
  • Board and committee members support fundraising, communications, registration and club administration.
  • Parent volunteers help with carpools to tournaments and welcoming new families.

PAID COACHING POSITIONS

Coach Foil and Epee at New Brunswick's Largest Club

We hire assistant and lead coaches for our youth, adult and competitive programs. Positions are part time, mostly evenings and weekends, and are paid.

  • Lead or assist with youth, adult introduction and competitive classes.
  • Provide individual lessons to developing and competitive fencers.
  • Support our athletes at provincial and national tournaments.
  • Competitive fencing experience in foil or epee is preferred.
  • NCCP coaching certification is an asset. We support coaches who are working toward certification.
  • All coaches working with youth must complete a criminal record check and Safe Sport training.
